Why I chose RESET

I wish I could tell you that I spent hours researching and comparing various options that were available to me, but I didn't.  An old friend from high school, JTP, posted an opportunity for a Sugar Busters Camp on Facebook and after some minimal contemplation, I decided to give it a shot.  Why?

The Short Answer
1.  JTP tried RESET and said it works. (Someone should triple her salary!)
2.  The science offered an explanation to my struggles in the past.

The Longer Answer:
1.  I'm a nutritional disaster.
Have you ever been caught in the rain with someone and when you complain about getting wet, he/she makes some comment along the lines of  "Are you made of sugar??  You won't melt!"  Well...I actually might.  I crave sugar.  I need it.  When I get stressed, or sad, or happy, or nervous, or any emotion at all, nothing "fixes" or "compliments" the emotion better than chocolate or a pastry or something baked.

I definitely have my good days, but the bad days are still too close together and pretty much sabotage any efforts and progress I have made towards adjusting my lifestyle on my own.  I get into trouble on two fronts: one has to do with the schedule I keep and the other has to do with my inability to channel stress.  My household may seem simple--two adults responsible for themselves and a dog, a cat and a couple of fish, but our schedules often collide.  Two people, two full time jobs, one in college part time and one teaching college part time...and that's doesn't count any social activities or random events that just happen.  Needless to say, if we don't plan meals ahead of time, we often find ourselves eating out.  And even then, if we plan but don't prep, by say, thawing out chicken breast or ground beef, we also end up eating out.

The science behind RESET offers an explanation for my so called "need" of sugar, and more importantly, offers a way to stop the crazy cycle and build better habits.  I've tried other weight loss programs in the past, and they either didn't work or I hit a plateau quickly, and I've come to realize this is because while I  may have been staying within my daily calorie allotment, I was eating the wrong types of foods.

2.  RESET offers support.
I know from past experiments with other weight loss solutions, that I need additional support.  I need someone to answer my questions, someone to legitimize what I'm feeling...and RESET offers that.  I also know I DO NOT need someone telling me that weight loss is as simple as burning more calories than you consume. 100 calories of cotton candy IS NOT the same fuel for your body as 100 calories of spinach. RESET acknowledges this through use of glycemic index and glycemic load.

3.  "Diet" isn't a verb to RESET, it is a noun.
I know that over the next weeks and months, I am going to be working on choosing a better plan for my daily diet, but I am not entering into some temporary state of "dieting" where I will be depriving myself of certain foods.

I'm done with dieting.  It's stupid.
